Porcelain

Porcelain

All high-fired ceramics including porcelain and stoneware can be referred to as ci in Chinese, which is translated in English as porcelain. In the West, porcelain refers to white ceramics made from kaolin and porcelain stone, which have been fired at a temperature of at least 1280°C after applying a glaze. This results in a glass-like coating on the object that can transmit light. The object makes a ringing sound when struck.
