Planography is a printmaking technique to create images on a flat surface, such as a stone or metal plate, without carving or etching. Unlike other printmaking methods, chemicals are used to control the areas that do and do not attract ink. By applying pressure to the treated surface against paper or fabric, the ink transfers and creates the desired image.
